Thursday December 17, 2020 – It’ll be fun to see how Big Cat and Little Cat play this weekend at the PNC Championship. We talked about expectations earlier in the week, but that’s not what we’re here for today. That’s too easy. Tiger is the GOAT and Charlie’s swing is PURE. You get it. We get it. Everybody gets it.
What we are here to talk about is their dynamic on the course. Specifically, how Tiger will balance the roles of dad, coach, and teammate.
“The most important thing is that I’m his dad…and whatever role I have as a coach or instructor, that’s irrelevant.”
We love what Tiger has had to say thus far, but it’ll be interesting to watch their relationship over the next few years. As Charlie gets a little older and starts to think for himself, the roles of dad, coach, and teammate will certainly get tougher to play.
How do I know this? Well, from experience of course.
I love my dad more than anything in the world. But, that didn’t mean I wanted to be coached by him. I believe the first time I clapped back at him about sports was during coach pitch. That motherfu*ker struck me out.
Needless to say, a 5-year-old telling their dad off didn’t go over well. I rode the pine the rest of the game, but whatever, that’s not the point.
